Brenda Malley
Brenda Malley was born in Dublin in 1954 and studied History of Art at University College Dublin. Beginning her career as an art teacher, Brenda developed her art into a full time profession while living in the USA for 12 years. Since her return to Ireland in 1998 she has drawn her inspiration from the rugged coastline of Mayo, Kerry, Donegal and Connemara.
Brenda’s work has been represented by the Leinster Gallery, Dublin, the Barbara Stanley Gallery, London, by the James Wray Gallery Belfast, and now by the Whitethorn Gallery in Clifden, Connemara.
In 2010 Brenda received an award from Culture Ireland to present a solo exhibition “Across the Sea” in the Irish Cultural Centre of New England, in Canton, Massachusetts. She was also the recipient of a residency award at cill Rialaig Artist retreat in Ballinskelligs, Co. Kerry in 2009.
